FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. What Is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties, and to do this they send out independent contractors. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Worker Responsibilities
Most inspections take 5-6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within four days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take nine or more property photos with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Be able to spend extended periods of driving with numerous stops during the day within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position; each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of
$30‑$40 per hour.
Depending on the county, urban or rural, you’ll complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month and work 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties offer higher rates, while higher‑volume counties offer lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
