Your New Role This versatile, creative, and innovative Digital Journalist will possess true 21st‑Century digital content skills and experience, driving the success of our digital properties covering college sports. The Digital Journalist will write, edit, produce, and deliver a wide variety of sports content, and will also read, edit, and post contributed material from press releases, staff writers, and freelancers. Accurate data content—such as updating NCAA Championship brackets or polls—is essential, as is attention to detail. You’ll create compelling headlines and teasers across desktop, mobile, newsletters, and partners. This requires solid producing, programming skills, and a keen understanding of audience analytics tools (Chartbeat, Omniture) to track performance. A strong grasp of social networking sites will help reach and engage readers. Content must be clean, reader‑friendly, and aligned with WBD Sports’ partnership with the NCAA. Video‑editing and producing skills are a plus; you may edit content for creators like Andy Katz for NCAA.com and our YouTube channels. Experience covering events is also a plus—on‑site reporting and producing at tournaments such as NCAA basketball, the College Cup, and swimming championships may be required. Enthusiasm, independence, risk‑taking, and collaboration are highly valued. Role Accountabilities Select, prioritize, edit, and post content (text, statistics, standings, video, photo, etc.) Publish content on owned/operated and external platforms in line with guidelines and styles set by staff and league partners Monitor news, events, and social networking for source content Ensure all content is grammatically correct and factually accurate Demonstrate news judgment in editing and story selection consistent with league partner editorial policies and standards Work directly with video producers to incorporate video content and coordinate live video streaming coverage Work directly with internal teams and partners to ensure championship and microsite content is up to date and accurate Report and troubleshoot operational bugs (feeds, polls, leaderboard, site) as they arise Travel as required to provide event coverage Qualifications & Experiences Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Minimum of 2 years editorial experience, preferably online and in the sports industry Working knowledge of web publishing technologies, including HTML and Photoshop Strong basic editorial skills (writing, copy editing, news judgment) Experience with proprietary or off‑the‑shelf content management systems Proficiency in basic computer skills such as MS Word and Excel Ability to work in a team environment with a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends Ability to handle last‑minute or quick‑turnaround deadlines in a live publishing environment Superior written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and prioritization skills Educational Requirements Must be a Dec. 2025, Spring 2026, or Summer 2026 graduate from an NCAA member institution.
