FAR Inspections is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to manage time and meet deadlines is essential.

What is an Occupancy Verification?

To verify property occupancy.

To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.

Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant. You will be responsible for completing all inspections in a county, and in some cases may split the county with another inspector if volume warrants.

Responsibilities

Complete inspections within 4 days after assignment.

Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.

Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.

Fill out a short form in an app.

Drive extended periods within the assigned territory, making numerous stops.

Requirements

Computer with internet connection.

Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage preferred; owner pays gas).

Smartphone (Android or iPhone).

Printer.

Valid driver’s license and pass a standard background check.

Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Pay ranges from $30 to $40 per hour. Depending on the county’s volume you may complete 20–500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. There is no mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.

Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or cover a larger territory.
