Post Doctoral Associate (Singson) Position: Postdoctoral Associate at the Waksman Institute of Microbiology, Rutgers University-New Brunswick.
The Singson laboratory is seeking a postdoctoral associate to participate in studies of reproductive biology in the
C. elegans
model system. The candidate will contribute to projects on fertilization synapse, sperm activation, and sperm mitochondria dynamics. Experience with C. elegans genetics, reproduction, and cell biology is required. Further, experience with protein–protein interaction methods such as split ubiquitin yeast‑two‑hybrid assays and SIM microscopy is needed. The candidate will report directly to the laboratory Principal Investigator (PI).
The position requires the ability to design and carry out experiments with the C. elegans model system as well as other experimental systems such as yeast two‑hybrid protein–protein interaction methods. The candidate should work unsupervised day‑to‑day but consult with the PI for long‑term research goals. The candidate must professionally communicate and justify experimental approaches and results in oral and written form. Manuscripts for publication will be corresponded by the candidate.
The scope of work is primarily as a member of the Singson lab research team. Scientific interactions at the Waksman Institute, Department of Genetics, and other relevant units will be required as the research progresses.
Qualifications
PhD or equivalent and experience with the C. elegans model system.
Forward and reverse genetics experience.
Protein–protein interaction study experience.
Experience with modern microscopy including stereo, compound, confocal, and super‑resolution microscopy.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Will report to PI, communicate effectively, work unsupervised, and justify experimental approaches.
