Join FAR INSPECTIONS as a Mortgage Field Services Inspector. FAR Inspections is a leading provider of residential occupancy verifications for mortgage lenders based in Reno, NV. This role is an independent contractor position that offers a predictable, full‑time or supplemental income and a flexible schedule.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on the condition and occupancy of their properties. Inspectors conduct exterior (and sometimes interior) inspections, submit reports via a mobile application, and provide photos and comments to confirm whether a property is occupied.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
Finish the inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy using industry standards.
Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
Fill out a short form in the mobile app.
Drive extended periods making frequent stops throughout assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with a reliable internet connection.
Vehicle with good gas mileage (you pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check with a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Each inspection has a flat rate; rates vary by county and volume. Pay is equivalent to approximately $30–$40 per hour. Depending on county and urban/rural settings, you may complete between 20 and 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties offer higher rates.
There is no mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection, but you can earn more as you become established, increase availability, or cover larger territories.
