Logistics & Sales Specialist

StaffBuffalo is excited to partner with a long-standing boutique logistics organization to hire a Logistics & Sales Specialist, offering a
$60,000–$65,000 base salary
with uncapped commission potential — typically bringing total annual earnings to
$100,000–$110,000 or more . This role blends quoting, sales, relationship building, and creative problem-solving in an industry where timelines shift quickly and solutions matter.
The Logistics & Sales Specialist will manage quoting, inside sales, and new business development while serving as the point person for customers navigating complex freight decisions. You’ll travel to port cities, build meaningful customer relationships, juggle a high volume of communication, and think quickly when clients need solutions — often on tight deadlines. This role requires grit, organization, strong logistics intuition, and the ability to stay calm and effective when a lot comes at you at once.
You’ll be stepping into a role previously held for more than a decade, joining a tight-knit team known for its longevity, autonomy, and genuinely enjoyable culture.
This is an in-person position in the Buffalo area (hybrid once fully trained).
Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development
Prospect and engage new customers through outreach, LinkedIn, and relationship building
Manage inbound inquiries and convert them into active clients
Conduct monthly sales trips to domestic ports to build and strengthen relationships
Re-engage former customers to grow market share
Understand each customer’s logistics needs and create solutions in time-sensitive situations
Quoting (Major Portion of the Role)
Handle high-volume quoting across ports, rail ramps, and inland locations
Prepare accurate bid responses, including complex or oversized project quotes
Work with Operations as needed, but maintain ownership of the sales-side quoting process
Client Relationship Management
Provide timely updates and clear communication to clients
Assist with problem-solving when shipments or timelines shift
Build rapport with customers through consistent follow-through and high-touch service
Represent the company’s boutique, personalized approach
Internal Collaboration
Work closely with Operations to ensure customer needs and timelines are met
Use TMS platforms (any system experience helpful; new systems may be implemented)
Maintain an organized, email-heavy workflow
Manage shifting priorities with confidence and clarity
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, transportation brokerage, or similar operations (required)
Strong understanding of shipping fundamentals: ports, containers, trans loads, inland moves, timing, and rail ramps
High-energy, proactive communicator with a true problem-solving mindset
Ability to manage urgent, time-sensitive situations with grace and efficiency
Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of juggling many tasks at once
Strong Microsoft Office skills and comfort working in a TMS
Self‑motivated with a hunter mentality for sales and customer growth
Excellent interpersonal and relationship‑building abilities
Willingness to travel approximately one week per month
Work Schedule & Environment
Monday–Wednesday: In‑office
Thursday–Friday: Remote after full training
Occasional evening/weekend monitoring due to industry demands
Standard hours: 8am–5pm (flexible once trust is established)
