Police Officer
To patrol an assigned district in the City of Little Rock in order to enforce laws and ordinances. This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening. The candidate must possess a valid Arkansas Class "D" (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position. The candidate must meet any other requirements established by the Little Rock Civil Service Commission and the State Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training. Applicants that are Certified Police Officers will go to the background investigation step (written exam and physical agility testing is NOT required for certified officers). Human Resources will submit all candidates to LRPD personnel for a preliminary background check. If any of the following are found during the preliminary background, the candidate will be automatically disqualified: Invalid driver's license Prior felony conviction - NOTE: Expunged and/or pardoned felonies still disqualify candidates from employment as a Police Officer. Prior domestic abuse conviction Excessive traffic points accrued within the past three years. Applicants who have successfully completed the on-line application, supplemental questions, and the preliminary background check will receive additional information about the selection process.
