Role Overview The Community Partnerships Manager- Houston is the heartbeat of Recess’ school and PTA relationships. This role is perfect for someone who loves being out in the community, building authentic connections, and helping schools access meaningful support and resources.
You will serve as the primary point of contact for school administrators, PTA leaders, and parent groups across Houston and surrounding districts. From attending PTA meetings to representing Recess at school events, you will ensure that schools understand who we are, how we support families, and how our Give Back Program can help strengthen their communities.
This is a brand-new and foundational role. You’ll help build the structure, rhythm, and relationship model for how Recess partners with schools for years to come.
Key Responsibilities School Relationship Building Serve as the face of Recess for school partners — admins, PTA boards, and parent leaders.
Build strong, trusted, ongoing relationships across campuses and districts.
Conduct regular check-ins with schools to understand needs, challenges, and opportunities.
Proactively share updates, seasonal opportunities (winter break, summer camps, no-school days), and helpful resources.
PTA & Community Engagement Attend PTA meetings, council meetings, parent coffees, and relevant committees.
Represent Recess at school events including back-to-school nights, resource fairs, family nights, and district events.
Share and help administer the Recess Give Back Program with all partnered schools.
Support PTA leaders with messaging, flyers, announcements, and onboarding for new boards each year.
Program Management & Support Monitor engagement and utilization of Recess tools and programs within each school community.
Work closely with internal teams to ensure schools receive timely support and tailored materials.
Collect insights from schools and PTAs to help shape new features, partnerships, and offerings.
Community Presence Actively maintain a presence across Austin-area schools to ensure Recess is known, trusted, and valued.
Identify new partnership opportunities across public schools, charter networks, private schools, micro-schools, and community organizations.
Build partnerships that deepen Recess’ mission of supporting families and kids.
Administrative & Coordination Maintain accurate notes, contacts, and statuses for all schools.
Coordinate schedules, outreach plans, and follow-up communications.
Assist with preparing school-focused materials, overviews, proposals, and meeting recaps.
Who You Are A relationship-driven connector who loves being out in the community.
Confident facilitating conversations with principals, PTA boards, parents, and school leaders.
Organized and proactive, with excellent follow-through and communication habits.
Comfortable attending evening school meetings or occasional weekend school events.
Passionate about supporting families and strengthening school communities.
Excited to help build a brand-new role and define what school partnerships look like at Recess.
Experience 2+ years in community partnerships, education, PTA involvement, nonprofit outreach, or relationship-driven roles.
Experience working with schools or parent groups is highly preferred.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Comfortable working part-time with a dynamic, flexible schedule tied to school calendars.
