Job Summary
The Telecom/Network Engineer will design, configure, manage, troubleshoot, support and implement the Telecom/Network Infrastructure. They will also perform limited project management, coordinating support staff efforts and communicating project status to project proponents.
Responsibilities
Participate in decisions on technical direction, architecture design, and product selection for the enterprise telecom/data network under general supervision.
Assist with the deployment of telecom
etwork technology.
Exercise independent judgment and work on complex technical issues under general direction.
Provide input to short and long‑term section strategy and budget planning.
May perform duties of Telecom/Network Specialist.
Receptive to new ideas and learning new technologies.
Plan and lead small projects and perform project management, coordinating efforts of internal and external staff with customer and business needs.
Occasionally oversee projects and tasks assigned to project team members and provide input to their evaluations.
Work under stressful conditions, participating in implementations and troubleshooting efforts with significant patient care and/or financial impact to the organization.
Required Skills & Experience
Expert knowledge of telecom
etwork concepts and the 7‑layer OSI model.
Knowledge of basic telecom
etwork management and monitoring tools.
Basic understanding of desktop and server operating systems.
Ability to work with minimum direction and effectively in a team environment.
Customer‑focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Good organizational and time‑management skills to handle workload and multiple simultaneous projects.
Solid analytical skills.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with at least two (2) years of professional technical work experience.
OR associate’s degree with at least four (4) years of professional technical work experience.
OR minimum six (6) years of professional technical work experience for individuals without a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Utilizes, operates and maintains network security infrastructure and services such as network access control, network segmentation (TrustSec, ISE), VPN, secure web browsing, internet caching and DNS security devices to ensure data integrity and network security.
Provides assistance and may be asked to take a network leadership role with troubleshooting and remediation of security‑related incidents or network security investigations in coordination with the Help Desk, ITOC and SOC.
Familiar with software‑defined networking tools including firewalls, WAN/LAN, SASE, and Cloud networking.
Familiar with scripting and automation tools such as Splunk, Ansible, Python, and .Net.
Knowledge of standard project methodology (Agile and/or Waterfall) processes, tools, and terminologies.
CCNA certification preferred.
