Diesel Technician/Mechanic II
Join Penske Truck Leasing as a Diesel Technician/Mechanic II. As a technician you will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles, helping customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.
Shift Sunday through Wednesday, 4/10’s, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm
Main Responsibilities
Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers
Perform preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little or no supervision and in a timely manner
Repair and troubleshoot components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
Keep work area clean and safe
Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
Learn new skills through Penske’s technician training
Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
Specialized training and experience in diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
Experienced using tools of the trade (diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools)
Valid driver’s license required
Ability to solve problems
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to work well as part of a team
Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
Basic computer skills
Understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules and regulations established by Penske management
Perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding and best safety practice
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
Position requires driving Penske and customer vehicles; regulated by the DOT and requires maintaining a current driver qualification file as required by the role
Willingness to travel within the district, complete Penske employment application, submit to background and drug screening and pass required qualifications
Physical Requirements
Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended time during scheduled work period
Use hands daily to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, and operate required tools or controls
Work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated working platforms
Work safely in all weather conditions
See and hear to navigate work environment amid frequent movement of large trucks
Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs (45 kg); push/pull truck tires that exceed 100 lbs
