The Opportunity As part of EY Private Tax, this practice serves privately held companies ranging from family owned businesses to private equity owned entities. The team focuses on high‑growth private companies across the spectrum, from start‑ups to multi‑billion‑dollar global private firms. The role offers exposure to technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects with ample support, training, and a clear progression path to senior manager.

Your Key Responsibilities

Preparing or reviewing federal and state tax returns for U.S. corporations and certain partnerships, including foreign reporting requirements for cross‑border entities.

Providing tax research, drafting memoranda, and assisting in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.

Identifying and communicating significant tax matters to Senior Managers, Managing Directors, and Partners.

Liaising and developing relationships with other service lines and subject matter professionals.

Building long‑term client relationships and tailoring service to unique client needs.

Communicating complex tax issues to non‑tax professionals and clients.

Maintaining reputation by constantly updating and sharing technical knowledge.

Managing, coaching, and developing a team of tax professionals; reviewing work and ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to excel.

Identifying risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.

Skills And Attributes For Success

A bachelor’s degree in a related field and experience in tax, business, or financial planning.

CPA certification or membership in the Bar.

Prior experience with ASC 740 tax provisions.

Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills and confidence to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional services or a professional tax organization.

A commitment to continuing learning.

Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH IntelliConnect, OneSource, BNA, or LexisNexis.

Willingness to travel as needed and ability to work in a balanced hybrid environment.

Experience managing, coaching, and mentoring junior colleagues.

What We Offer You

Comprehensive compensation and benefits: base salary ranges from $106,500 to $195,100 USD nationwide, with higher ranges in major metros. Total rewards include medical, dental, pension, 401(k), and paid time off. Salary within the range is determined by education, experience, skills, and geography.

Hybrid model: most external client‑serving roles work together in person 40–60% of the time over an engagement, project, or year.

Flexible vacation policy: you decide how much vacation time you need. You also receive time off for EY Paid Holidays, winter/summer breaks, personal/family care, and other leaves of absence.
