Role Description We are seeking a full‑time Commercial Lines Account Manager to join our team. This hybrid role offers flexibility for work from home and focuses on maintaining client relationships, identifying insurance needs, and strengthening client partnerships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage, retain, and enhance assigned client relationships in collaboration with Account Executives.

Provide responsive and comprehensive service to client accounts.

Advocate for clients on all risk and insurance issues.

Complete applications in coordination with Account Executives; submit to carriers; follow up to ensure timely quotations and policies.

Order and issue binders, certificates, policies, endorsements, and related items; verify accuracy; forward to clients with appropriate correspondence.

Prepare summaries of insurance schedules and proposals.

Process renewals in coordination with Account Executives.

Review policy audits; verify accuracy and facilitate corrections between client and carrier.

Verify policy and change information, facilitating corrections when necessary.

Meet agency quality standards, including E&O best practices.

Develop and maintain long‑term relationships with decision makers and personnel at each client, emphasizing understanding of business risk exposures.

Manage day‑to‑day book‑of‑business activities; set priorities and workflow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate transaction processing.

During renewals, new additions, and mid‑term changes, collaborate with Account Executives to analyze client needs, prepare applications, place business on time, and protect client assets, utilizing standard and specialty markets as required.

Maintain professional relationships with clients, carriers, coworkers, and other resources.

Stay informed about industry developments, product updates, legislation, coverage changes, and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Insurance or customer service experience preferred; 1‑2 years experience and/or not licensed acceptable.

3‑5 years commercial property and casualty insurance experience desirable.

Knowledge of Commercial Property, GL, Auto, WC, and Inland Marine coverage with ability to effectively communicate these subjects.

Ability to analyze complex insurance situations, needs, and options; communicate options verbally and in writing clearly.

Knowledge of insurance products, usage, markets, rating, and underwriting procedures.

Strong computer skills and familiarity with Outlook, Excel, Word, and Applied.

Active Rhode Island Producer’s license (or ability to convert a valid out‑of‑state broker’s license).

Professionalism, strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to make a good first impression.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Professional designations such as ACSR, CISR, AAI, or CIC desirable.

Skilled at identifying and analyzing client exposures across all risk aspects with 3‑5 years experience in agency or broker environments; able to negotiate with underwriters.

Deep knowledge of casualty and property insurance contracts, exclusions, premium rating methods, policy audits, and technical rating analysis.

Familiarity with surplus lines marketplace desirable.

Ability to create underwriting specifications and submissions with relevant data.

Experience managing accounts ranging from $1,000 to $500,000 in premium.

Familiar with carrier rating software and agency management programs.
