Responsibilities
Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate recreation classes for adults 50+, considering interests and abilities.
Manage day‑to‑day operations and events, including class and membership registration and monetary transactions.
Recruit, hire, and evaluate class instructors; determine schedules and fees; prepare program information for brochure publication and registration.
Register and enroll participants; inform them of class changes, cancellations, and refunds.
Prepare and maintain attendance reports daily, weekly, and monthly; prepare enrollment and program evaluations quarterly.
Lead work activities of designated personnel and volunteers; oversee part‑time staff; participate in hiring new instructors, coaches, and assistants.
Contact local businesses, individuals, and community organizations for program support and participation.
Investigate and resolve citizen complaints concerning classes, instructors, or the facility.
Promote classes through various entities; maintain marketing and promotional materials.
Monitor the use of recreation equipment and facilities; participate in cleaning and maintaining equipment; order supplies and equipment as needed.
Drive a 15‑passenger van with participants during trips.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of recreation programming, facilities planning, supervisory principles, conflict resolution, safety policies, and teaching methods for diverse learning styles.
Skill in communicating clearly (verbal and written); applying first aid and CPR; operating a personal computer; creating marketing materials; maintaining records and reports.
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration or related field (or equivalent experience).
One (1) year experience developing and implementing recreation programs (or equivalent experience that meets the above qualifications).
Texas Class C driver’s license.
American Red Cross issued CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications (additional certifications may be required).
Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs., and work in moderate noise and temperature conditions.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions Full‑time position performed throughout the Recreation Complex; involves standing, walking between work areas, and occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Requires vision, hearing, and speech for communication.
