The Office of Development supports a culture of flexibility, and a hybrid work arrangement is possible for this position. The position requires on-site work three days per week at the Michigan Medicine Development offices.

Job Summary Michigan Medicine is a groundbreaking organization. The Office of Development raises an average of $200 million annually. Under the direction of the Director of Annual Giving, Leadership Annual Giving and Data Services, the Leadership Annual Giving Officer will play a critical role in the direct, front‑line solicitation of leadership annual gifts ($1 000‑$25 000 or more when appropriate) to support various programs across Michigan Medicine. The officer will also identify and qualify major gift prospects and work on cross‑organization fundraising initiatives.

Responsibilities Leadership Annual Giving Solicitation (60%)

Manage a portfolio of prospects and directly solicit gifts from $1 000‑$25 000 or more.

Communicate with, engage, and qualify philanthropic interests of potential donors.

Steward and engage existing annual donors to further cultivate and qualify them for future giving and potential major gifts.

Serve as liaison to core fundraising teams, coordinating with major gift officers.

Work with liaison leads to gain broad expertise for representing programs in conversations with prospects, volunteers, and donors.

Coordinate involvement of appropriate faculty and staff in the gift solicitation process when appropriate.

Serve as primary contact for and conduct general Michigan Medicine grateful patient solicitation follow‑up.

Special Giving Programs (20%)

Raise leadership annual gifts through collaboration with other Office of Development team members, including:

Engaging with community‑based organizations to enhance fundraising programs.

Supporting team efforts around web‑based peer‑to‑peer fundraising.

Collaborating closely with third‑party fundraising initiatives.

Leading specific fundraising projects and other activities as assigned.

Project Management (10%)

Work independently to achieve goals using detailed and anticipatory instincts.

Manage multiple projects and priorities, meeting challenging deadlines.

Develop good working relationships with internal and external constituencies.

Other (10%)

Serve as a model of collaboration in the development community.

Build a comprehensive understanding of the Office of Development priorities and make a persuasive case for supporting key programs.

Execute other projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.

At least two years of annual giving, development, or similar experience.

Excellent written and communication skills.

Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekend and evening hours.

Ability to travel regularly.

Reliable internet service.

Desired Qualifications

Development experience in a nonprofit or academic health system setting with a comprehensive development program.

A track record demonstrating solid fundraising results and successful solicitation of leadership gifts in the $1 000‑$25 000 range.

Work Location The onsite location is the 777 Building. Free on‑site parking is provided.

Work Arrangement Hybrid work may be possible, but the role requires on‑site presence three days per week.
