Position Purpose

Tasks
Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.
Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.
Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, or training or safety records.
Provide guidance to logistics specialists, planners, or schedulers.
Facilitate inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management.
Coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources.
Correspond with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability.
Facilitate distribution center operation to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, or timeliness objectives.
Assist with the execution of negotiating transportation rates or services.
Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers.
Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency.
Monitor product import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation.
Assist in the development of risk management programs to ensure continuity of supply in emergency scenarios.
Plan or advise on improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
Plan or advise on material flow management systems to meet production requirements.
Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies.
Facilitate policies and procedures for logistics activities.
Communicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers, using transportation management, electronic logistics marketplace, or electronic freight information systems, to improve efficiency, speed, or quality of transportation services.
Establish or monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems.
Execute specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics.
Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery.
Oversight and management of Station profit and loss (P&L) including direct influence over the station's department resource allocation.
Review global, national, or regional logistics reports for ways to improve efficiency or minimize the environmental impact of logistics activities.
Sales Related Tasks
Comply with and enhance the new customer setup process.
Oversee the onboarding process for national accounts and develop concrete and well‑written implementation guides and SOPs.
Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service.
Oversee regional and local sales representatives and staff.
Work with the Director of HR to establish a staffing, training, and performance evaluation program that will attract, maintain, and develop top talent.
Assist Global Sales Directors in devising solutions to meet client needs on an ad‑hoc basis.
Determine price schedules and rates that will be competitive in your market area.
Review operational records and reports to project sales and determine profitability.
Monitor customer preferences to determine the focus of sales initiatives.
Prepare budgets and approve budget expenditures.
Confer or consult with management team to plan advertising services and secure information on equipment and customer specifications.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Years of Experience: 7–10 years with increasing levels of responsibility working directly for a 3PL / Freight Forwarding company.
Education: Industry‑related degree and/or certification.
Knowledge
Transportation — Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including relative costs and benefits.
Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including needs assessment and quality standards.
Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership, and coordination.
Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost‑maximizing techniques.
Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote local, state, or national security operations.
Personnel and Human Resources — Knowledge of personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation, benefits, labor relations, and P‑management systems.
Computers and Electronics — Knowledge of hardware, software, electronic equipment, and programming.
Education and Training — Knowledge of curriculum design, instruction, and training effect measurement.
