Job Summary Piper Fire Protection’s Sarasota, FL branch is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting and ensuring the proper functioning of fire alarm systems and fire sprinkler systems in compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and local regulations. This critical role contributes to the safety and protection of lives and property in our community.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Fire Alarm System Inspection

Conduct regular inspections of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) and local codes.

Identify and document any deficiencies, malfunctions, or violations related to fire alarm systems.

Verify that alarm panels, detectors, notification devices, and emergency power systems are operational.

Test and maintain communication pathways, such as phone lines and communication networks.

Provide recommendations and reports for necessary repairs and upgrades.

Stay current with industry advancements and technology related to fire alarm systems.

Fire Sprinkler System Inspection

Perform routine inspections of fire sprinkler systems following NFPA 25 (Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water‑Based Fire Protection Systems) and local codes.

Inspect sprinkler heads, pipes, valves, pumps, and related components for proper functionality.

Conduct flow tests and inspections of backflow preventers.

Document any issues or deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.

Coordinate with contractors for system repairs and maintenance as needed.

Ensure that water supply sources for fire sprinklers are adequate and functional.

Required Skills & Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED (Associate degree or technical certification in Fire Protection or related field preferred)

Minimum of 2 years of experience in fire sprinkler and/or fire alarm inspection, testing, and maintenance

Working knowledge of NFPA 25 and NFPA 72 standards, as well as local fire codes and regulations

Ability to accurately identify deficiencies and provide clear, detailed reports

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities

Proficiency in using inspection tools, testing equipment, and basic computer applications for reporting

Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Preferred Qualifications

NICET Certification

This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low‑voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
