JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education : High school graduate is required. Minimum of one year of billing experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Applicants without experience but with business training will be considered. Experience : Preferably, previous healthcare billing and follow-up experience. At least one year of computer data entry experience is required. Must be able to work under deadline pressure and communicate effectively with all ages, especially the geriatric population. Physical : This is a safety-sensitive position. Refer to the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for details. The role involves working in a normal office environment, requiring close vision (corrected to 20/20), normal hearing, sitting for 7-8 hours, and using hands for handling objects. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and view computer screens for extended periods. Occasional stress may occur due to workload and customer interactions. JOB SUMMARY
The Patient Account Representative is responsible for accurately and promptly collecting claims from third-party payers and patients, coding and entering charges, posting payments, arranging payment plans, providing cost estimates, and updating patient accounts. The role involves responding to inquiries from payers and patients and requires high contact with patients, employees, physicians, and community members. Attendance is essential, and occasional stress related to workload and deadlines may occur.
