Job Summary and Qualifications The Director of Emergency Services ensures high‑quality, patient‑centered care through oversight of function, staffing, forecasting, and budget monitoring. This leader fosters accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement while implementing policies, procedures, and strategies that support facility objectives.
Major Responsibilities Quality
Cultivate a superior clinical identity by implementing evidence‑based practices and ensuring adherence to standards of care.
Manage variations in clinical practice to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost.
Track internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations, pursuing opportunities to achieve them.
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards—developing and implementing necessary policies and procedures.
Oversee equipment maintenance in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Ensure efficient patient throughput through forecasting, patient‑flow coordination, and admission/discharge planning.
Develop care‑coordination policies that promote quality, safety, and interdisciplinary communication.
Direct nursing practice and unit operations, establishing policies that ensure patient and family needs are assessed and met.
Service
Provide leadership to attain and sustain an unparalleled patient experience.
Leverage feedback mechanisms to benchmark performance and identify opportunities to improve satisfaction.
Execute a strategic roadmap designed to enhance patient experience and achieve optimal outcomes.
Collaborate with patient experience leaders and subject‑matter experts to implement evidence‑based enhancements.

Create a culture that inspires commitment to the organization’s vision and values.
Recognize, value, and support employees, implementing strategies to elevate engagement.
Identify development opportunities or training needs for staff and provide coaching and feedback.
Attract, develop, and retain talent, ensuring staff are positioned to meet business needs.

Collaborate with administration and physicians to enhance existing services or develop new offering.
Identify opportunities for expansion, technology advancement, and partnership strategies to drive differentiation and volume.
Finance
Participate in annual budgeting, providing input on revenue, expense forecasts, staffing, and supplies.
Monitor budget performance, identify trends, evaluate variances, and implement actions to address gaps.
Ensure effective labor management—position control, scheduling excellence, productivity, and premium pay utilization.
Manage operating expenses and identify cost‑reduction opportunities.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required).
Master’s Degree (preferred).
1+ year of applicable experience (required); 3+ years (preferred).
