Pool Manager

The City of Compton is seeking a Pool Manager for seasonal employment. The position offers a competitive salary range of $44,886.40 - $52,520.00 annually and is located in Compton, CA.
The Pool Manager is responsible for staff supervision and facility operation, communicates closely with staff in the coordination of programs and operations, maintains a safe environment for pool patrons, and ensures that departmental policies are followed.
The Pool Manager reports to the Recreation Supervisor.
Primary duties and responsibilities include preparing daily lesson plans, maintaining records on attendance and participants, preparing written reports and evaluating staff performance, supervising inventories and clean up of aquatic equipment, supervising daily maintenance schedule throughout the facility, attending in-service training, testing pool water for the correct chemical balance, maintaining filtration and chlorination plant, supervising collections and disbursement of cash, preparing reports on the status of the pool water, facility, and pool activities.
Minimum qualifications include possession of or the ability to obtain a Water Safety Instructor certification, valid CPR and First Aid certificates by the time of hire, and any combination equivalent to graduation from a community college and approximately three (3) seasons of paid experience in aquatics. Paid experience in recreation or aquatics may be substituted for the required education on a pro-rata basis up to two (2) years. The ability to perform lifesaving techniques, effectively perform and instruct participants in advance level swimming strokes, diving techniques, work with and evaluate individuals of various ages and skill levels, maintain and prepare class materials and equipment, establish and maintain cooperative working relations with other staff and the public is required. The ability to speak Spanish is desirable, but not required. Candidates must be 21 years of age and older and possess a valid Class "C" driver's license issued by the California State Department of Motor Vehicles.
