- Assumes personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks. - Ensures regulatory compliance at all times. - Effectively perform the following positions in the Breaking Department with little or no supervision. Machine loading: Load flats of shell egg onto the egg transfer machine (Old line 4/5). Candling: Remove all damaged, defective and dirty shell eggs according to USDA specifications. Breaking machine operator: Remove pieces of shell and inedible egg product by flipping a lever and diverting the inedible egg product to holding tank. Flat washer and pallet washer: Load dirty flats or pallets into the designated machines and unload clean ones to the proper location. Can off area: Fill, seal, and stack containers of liquid product onto pallets. Transfer Room floor person: Supply pallets of shell eggs from dock to transfer room and also reposition skids of dirty flats, clean flats, empty skids, skid sheets, and pallets to the designated area. Dock area: Transfer skids of shell egg from dock to transfer room with use of a power jack. Inedible tanker bay: Monitor augers and machinery in the shell room, clean tankers, and ensure inedible egg is handled as policy and procedure dictates. - Expected to adhere to safe work policies, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF Level certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. - Maintain positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management. - Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. - Have good verbal skills. - Have the ability to be a self-motivated individual who can work with a minimal amount of supervision. - Have a thorough knowledge of the Breaking Department with up to 6 months experience in that department. - Have the ability to safely lift 50lbs. - Have the ability to work indoors in a damp environment for the duration of the shift. - Have the ability to travel stairs. - Have the ability to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Safety regulations for the area. - Wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job. - Have a sufficient understanding of USDA requirements and company specifications. - Have the ability to retain knowledge for future use. - Have the equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties. - Ability to operate specific equipment and tools. - Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification. - Driver's License
