Position Summary:
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Housing Program Specialist to join our team. In this role, you’ll serve as the primary liaison between our organization and local, state, and federal housing authorities, ensuring compliance and smooth operations for residents participating in housing assistance programs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Housing Authority Coordination: Act as the primary liaison with local, state, and federal housing authorities (including HUD) to ensure timely and accurate communication.
Prepare and submit Request for Tenancy Approval (RAFTA) packets for all new move-ins.
Rent and Lease Management: Process rent change notices from housing authorities; update property management systems and adjust lease records. Submit rent increase requests for approval and confirm updated payment contracts. Correct ledgers based on housing authority adjustments.
Payment Processing: Post housing payments accurately to resident ledgers. Reconcile Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) with contract amounts to ensure accuracy.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in property management or affordable housing.
Knowledge of Low Income Housing programs, Housing Choice Vouchers, and rental assistance programs.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
Proficiency with property management software (e.g., Yardi, RealPage, MRI) preferred.
Understanding of Fair Housing laws and compliance requirements.
