Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Engineering Manager - Brooklyn. In this role, the successful candidate will provide administrative support required for the effective operation of the Engineering Department. This position will provide vital support including the organization and operation of Plant Utilities, and assist with the planning, organization, and reporting of the engineering department repair and maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Medical Center facility and satellite locations for patients, staff, and visitors in compliance with Joint Commission, NYSDOH, and all local, governmental and regulatory agencies. Ensure compliance with Medical Center policies and procedures, governmental regulations and standards for accreditation and certification from various agencies.

Job Responsibilities

Participates in EM activities including snow removal.

Schedules all work in sensitive areas.

Interface and coordinate activities and responsibilities with hospital departments, clinical and administrative staff to assure compliance with Administrative and other department policies and procedures as applicable for repairs, maintenance and improvements.

Supervises staff to include performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, counseling. Provides recommendations for hiring and termination of employees.

Plans and coordinates in-house and minor renovations. Provides supervision of projects to assure contractual provisions and schedule are met.

Oversees the physical plant in compliance with all regulatory requirements including the testing and maintenance of all Life Safety systems.

Oversees the operation and maintenance of all building systems.

Organize active Engineering P&P review and upgrade.

Assures continuous training and competency of all Engineering staff and members of the Environment of Care Committee.

Assists the Sr. Director‑Facilities with budgets, variance reports, business planning, strategic development and has financial accountability.

Participates in orientation and continuing education of departmental staff.

Continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided.

Represents the department at meetings and disciplinary proceedings.

Participates in Personnel matters including preparation of schedules, payroll and recruitment.

Investigates the issues and determines appropriate course of action in consultation with the Director of Engineering and Sr. Director‑Facilities.

Acts as a liaison between construction contractors working for the hospital and hospital staff.

Establishes and supervises the maintenance of data (personnel, purchased, materials and services, licensure and permits).

Monitors and evaluates the Engineering Department performance improvement program.

Responsible for preparing reports required to evaluate the Engineering Department performance including budgets, JC compliance, OQIC.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify you must have a BS, AS or High school graduate with equivalent combination of training and experience.

5+ years supervisory experience in engineering or facilities maintenance, Healthcare preferred.

Willingness to devote the time required to complete assigned tasks on schedule.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

The salary range for the role is $79,698.01 - $137,479.45 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
