FAR INSPECTIONS
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. This independent contractor position offers predictable full-time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; strong time management and meeting deadlines are crucial. The company is based in Reno, NV and has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Most common type of inspection should only take 5-6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Work long periods driving while making stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage; you pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although paid per inspection, you can earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.
Depending on the county (urban or rural) you will complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month-to-month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
