Summary
We are recruiting for Compliance Specialist roles in both Career Service and Term-Limited Temporary/Special Duty Assignment classifications. The
Term-Limited Temporary/Special Duty Assignment is anticipated to last for one year.

The Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is looking for a skilled, knowledgeable, highly-motivated, and enthusiastic team player to assist in managing the subrecipient monitoring activities for a portfolio of human service contracts with multiple complex funding sources.
The Compliance Specialist assists in the daily subrecipient risk management and fiscal monitoring functions across the department. This position plays a role in preparing and reviewing financial and programmatic risk assessments, financial contract compliance, and other monitoring activities. The position also provides support during internal and external audits of the Department.
Job Duties
Scope of Duties : T o be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum demonstrate skill and ability to: Perform research and analysis of risk of the Department's subrecipient agencies, which includes researching and analyzing a variety of financial records, reports, statements, etc... and using this information to complete risk assessments. Perform fiscal subrecipient monitoring on behalf of the Department to ensure fiscal compliance with grant/contract requirements, all applicable federal, state, and county regulations, and accounting and financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and County financial management standards. Prepare status reports of fiscal subrecipient monitoring and maintain and evaluate trends in agency compliance. Perform detailed review of other department financial and programmatic staff workpapers related to subrecipient monitoring. Draft results letters for subrecipient monitoring's. Provide ongoing feedback and training to fiscal and programmatic staff related to subrecipient monitoring. Provide technical assistance to subrecipient agencies on financial related matters. We Are Looking For Candidates Who Have:
Two years of experience with administration of federal and state grants, reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance guidance, such as 2 CFR 200. Two years of experience with organizational administrative and financial structures as related to federal and state grants. Skill in the application of accounting principles and practices, including the application of governmental accounting and audit techniques. Ability to acquire and incorporate knowledge of specialized administrative and fiscal procedures and subject matter through review of contracts, financial statements, administrative or system reports. Experience analyzing fiscal agency operations and developing sound recommendations as to their solution; and maintaining meticulous records. Experience in managing multiple projects of varying complexity and scale. Proficiency using MS Office Productivity tools in your daily work (Excel, Teams, Sharepoint, Tableau. Strong communication, interpersonal, writing and customer service skills. Ability to manage your time and adapt to changing priorities, work on multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, meet quick deadlines, and produce timely and quality work products. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or any equivalent combination of business experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the work. Experience performing subrecipient monitoring. Experience with audit processes. Supplemental Information
WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is not overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday.

WORK LOCATION:
TheDepartment of Community and Human Services team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is King County Chinook Building, 401 5th Avenue, Seattle, Washington. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
