Hospice Aide Job Description

Job Title: Hospice Aide Department: Hospice Care Reports To: Registered Nurse (RN) or Hospice Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Summary: A Hospice Aide provides compassionate, hands-on personal care and support to terminally ill patients and their families in homes, assisted living facilities, or hospice centers. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Hospice Aide assists with daily living activities, ensuring comfort, dignity, and quality of life for patients in their final stages. Key Responsibilities: Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, toileting, and skin care. Assist with mobility needs such as repositioning, transfers, and walking assistance. Monitor and report changes in the patient's condition to the RN or healthcare team. Support nutritional needs by assisting with feeding and meal preparation as needed. Provide emotional and social support to patients and their families. Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for the patient. Assist with light housekeeping tasks related to patient care. Follow individualized care plans and maintain accurate records of care provided. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols. Respect the privacy, dignity, and cultural beliefs of patients and their families. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team, including nurses, social workers, and chaplains, to ensure holistic care. Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) certification (varies by state). Experience: Previous experience in hospice, home health, or elder care preferred. Skills:

Compassionate, patient, and emotionally resilient. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical stamina to assist with patient mobility and care. Basic knowledge of hospice philosophy and end-of-life care.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Work in various settings, including private homes, nursing facilities, and hospice centers. Exposure to varying patient conditions, including terminal illnesses and end-of-life situations. May require flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Why Join Us?
