Hempstead Golf & Country Club is a member-owned private club located in the town of Hempstead on Long Island. The club was established in 1921 and designed by Peter Lee’s and A.W. Tillinghast. Hempstead is a very active family club with a full membership and a lengthy waiting list. The club has a robust golf operation with over 22,000 rounds annually and tremendous participation in all golf related events and activities.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated and energetic team player. Someone with a warm and outgoing personality will excel in Hempstead’s culture. A great candidate will be someone that loves being a student of the game and profession. He or she will be a member of a strong team working for a supporting membership.
The position holds a tremendous opportunity for career growth as he or she will be exposed to all facets of the golf operation. Individual and group instruction will be highly encouraged. There is a strong market for player development, and a motivated candidate will have a large clientele of students. Professionals will have access to a Trackman unit and the opportunity to teach indoors on property during the winter months.
Essential Responsibilities
Instruction: Private Lessons, Clinics, Junior Golf & Program Development Golf Shop Operations: 12-18 hours weekly Tournament Operations: Golf Genius experience or willingness to learn. Management: Assist in managing outside operations employees and monitoring golf course Playing Golf: Encouraged to play with the membership and tournaments. Benefits & Compensation
Meals on Duty Staff Clothing Allowance Holiday Bonus Health, Dental & 401K Plans Available PGA & GBN Dues Paid Professional Expense Allowance 100% of Instruction Income, Junior Golf, & Club Repair Income Compensation is commensurate with experience and will range from $850 – $1,300 weekly depending on qualifications and expertise. Length of season can range from 6 to 12 months depending on candidate’s needs. Both income and parameters of weeks worked annually will be an open dialogue in the hiring process. An engaging individual who is a good instructor can make well over 100K in total income. Benefits:
