About 3 Taps 3 Taps is a casual outdoor lakeside bar where patrons can enjoy draft beer and cocktails by the fire while listening to live music. Food and soft drinks are available from The A Truck, a food truck operated by Chautauqua Hotel Company. During the nine‑week summer season tableside and bar service is available 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily. During the pre‑season (May) and post‑season (October) service is typically available Friday to Sunday.
Compensation Compensation for this position is $13.00 per hour plus tipped earnings. Employees who are scheduled to perform work in a non‑tipped capacity for 20% or more of their shift, attend required events like orientation or training, or do not average minimum wage with their combined tipped income each week will be paid a minimum wage of $16.00 per hour.
Work Day
Knowledge of beer, wine, and liquor.
Consistently prepare mixed drinks according to Athenaeum Hotel standards.
Receive and prepare bar beverage orders from the service staff.
Provide guests with a fast‑paced bar and cocktail service.
Clean glasses and utensils, bar area.
Restock beer, wine, and glasses as necessary.
Track all orders through POS System and report daily sales.
Track complimentary, unwanted, or lost beverages.
Know and understand NYS Liquor Laws.
Oversee front‑of‑house staff and monitor restaurant operations.
Interact with guests and ensure guest satisfaction is above and beyond.
Maintain standards of fine dining establishment in a fast‑paced atmosphere.
Work alongside kitchen staff to ensure quality control of the product.
Assist management in overall cost‑effectiveness within budget and oversee front‑of‑house staff and monitor restaurant operations.
Conduct training for seasonal staff.
Responsible for directing employees to keep a clean space and atmosphere.
All other duties as assigned.
Referral Program Chautauqua Institution’s Referral Bonus Program offers a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees who refer a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90 days from the first physical date of work. For seasonal positions working less than six months, the new candidate must remain actively employed for at least 30 days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season. The closing date of the season is the last Sunday in August.
Schedule Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre‑season) and beyond season (post‑season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement.
Living on the Grounds No employer‑provided housing is available for this position. Applicants should plan to secure independent housing or reside within a commutable distance.
