Responsibilities
Read and evaluate project drawings and specifications to compile a detailed quantity take‑off for all bid items.
Convert project drawings or civil engineer CAD files to 3‑D CAD models for earthwork calculations.
Calculate earthwork quantities: mass excavation, over‑excavation, cut/fill, structural excavation, and backfill.
Update project take‑offs per engineer‑issued addendums and clarifications.
Perform area take‑offs for slopes, flats, etc.
Plot and color detailed maps to distinguish different pay quantities.
Develop volume reports and cut/fill maps for multiple phases using earthwork software.
Maintain spreadsheets for material descriptions and quantities, backing up work, and summarizing projects.
Log all bid plans, specifications, and revisions.
Upload, manage, and distribute bid documents via the company FTP site.
Prepare and manage RFQs to vendors and subcontractors.
Review construction notes to quantify scope and specifications.
Perform additional assignments at the director of preconstruction’s request.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Associate’s degree in CAD or equivalent experience in a construction environment (preferred).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to read and process contracts, subcontracts, reports, instructions, and manuals.
Ability to interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications, and RFQs.
Proficiency in producing routine reports and correspondence.
Strong math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division in all units; rate, ratio, percent calculations; bar graph interpretation.
Common‑sense understanding to follow written, verbal, or diagram instructions.
Proficiency in plotting and scanning drawings on printers or plotters.
Problem‑solving skills for standardized situations involving concrete variables.
Computer proficiency: Word, Excel, etc.
Ability to manage multiple projects with precision and speed.
Basic understanding of pricing terms.
Ability to maintain focus under pressure.
Detail oriented and self‑motivated.
Willingness to work overtime if required.
Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Knowledge of AGTEK earthwork software.
Understanding of geotechnical and soil reports.
