The Language Learning Center (LLC) is looking for an undergraduate student with a work‑study award to work as a Social Media & Outreach Assistant for the Spring semester, 1/12/26‑5/15/26 (~20 hours per week), with the possibility to continue for the 2026‑2027 academic year.
Duties:
Work with the LLC Director and Associate Director to revise and update the LLC outreach strategy.
Design and schedule social media posts, videos, and event flyers using Canva or other tools.
Cultivate new communities and manage online communities using Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok (or other social media as appropriate).
Design, edit, draft articles, collect information, and send monthly newsletter using MailChimp.
Reshare events and information related to language learning and multilingualism on our social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram).
Attend tabling events to promote language learning and follow up via email with interested students.
Assist with planning, organizing, promoting, and photographing/filming LLC events, including language of the month events, club meetings, speaker series, social gatherings, the annual Festival of Languages, and other events at the LLC.
Engage in other outreach duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current full‑time undergraduate student at UNM
Preferred Qualifications:
Work‑study award (state or federal)
Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Experience with social media and newsletter marketing
Knowledge of a language other than English
Familiarity with Canva, MailChimp, and Microsoft Teams
Attention to detail
Contribute to the maintenance of a supportive learning environment
