- The Retained… Our client is a value-added wholesale distributor serving the water and wastewater infrastructure market across municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential applications. The business is growing, investing, and positioned to scale further by leveraging strong manufacturer relationships, technical expertise, and a reputation for doing things the right way.
They are hiring an experienced Account Manager to own and grow the Western Carolinas territory, covering Western North Carolina and Western South Carolina. This is a field-facing role with real autonomy, strong internal support, and a long runway for growth.

What you will do
Build and maintain relationships with consulting engineers, municipal utilities, contractors, developers, builders, and key purchasing influencers across the territory
Partner with engineers and owners to develop solutions for collection system improvements, including pressure sewer systems and innovative lift station technologies
Coordinate closely with manufacturing partners to meet customer timelines and technical requirements
Prepare quotes, secure orders, and manage required documentation and submittals
Support owner training, startup coordination, and post‑sale service needs
Work with internal teams to ensure a smooth experience from order entry through payment
Travel throughout the assigned North and South Carolina territory using a personal vehicle, including occasional overnight travel
What sets you up for success
Strong sales drive with a service‑first mindset
Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills
Prior experience selling pumps, mechanical systems, or infrastructure‑related products
Understanding of municipal, commercial, and industrial sales cycles
Existing network of engineers, utilities, and contractors is a strong plus
Background in wholesale distribution preferred
Ability to balance technical knowledge with relationship building
Requirements
3 to 5 years of outside sales experience in a mechanical, infrastructure, or related field
Home office based in Western South Carolina
Comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic CRM tools
Valid driver’s license
