About the Role

University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College (UA-PTC) in Little Rock, Arkansas, is seeking a Sous Chef of Campus Dining for its Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute (CAHMI). The Sous Chef will oversee daily food service production at multiple college sites, including North Little Rock, South Location, Business and Industry Center, and North Little Rock Aviation Location, under the supervision of the Director of Campus Dining and Events. Preparing and coordinating menus for daily food service and catering events across all campus locations. Maintaining high standards of quality control, hygiene, and health and safety. Being available for night and weekend shifts, including flexible scheduling for events. Setting floor plans for weekly events and preparing event/banquet staff. Supervising and training kitchen staff, ensuring proper presentation of food, buffets, and retail items. Ensuring all food served is of high quality, properly prepared, and expedited to outlets efficiently. Writing schedules, evaluating, and directing all team members, including work‑study and practicum students. Maintaining open verbal and written communication between management and team members. Taking immediate action on kitchen problems and administering disciplinary actions as necessary. Monitoring and controlling food and labor costs for efficient service delivery. Completing weekly inventories and maintaining records in compliance with UA‑PTC and government policies. Ordering ingredients and supplies necessary for catering and food service operations. Maintaining kitchen and service area equipment and ensuring repairs are completed promptly. Maintaining menu and pricing for POS systems; overseeing checkout and closing procedures. Co‑ordinating with CAHMI faculty, staff, and students to cater special events. Maintaining appropriate certifications such as ServSafe Manager and American Culinary Federation certifications. Exhibiting professional verbal and written communication skills, being organized, detail oriented, flexible, and adaptive to change. Co‑ordinating with Facilities Management, Information Technology Services, CHARTS, and other functional areas to provide full‑service hospitality and post‑event cleaning. Assisting the Director of Campus Dining in all ways necessary to promote the goals of the school both internally and externally. Promoting the mission of University of Arkansas‑Pulaski Technical College. Performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Five years of applicable food service experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge, OR Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts or a related field from a regionally accredited institution with two years of food service experience. Leadership and managerial abilities, including excellent organizational and communication skills. Understanding and commitment to equal access and equal opportunity. American Culinary Federation (ACF) Certified or Certifiable as a Certified Culinarian or higher (CC or CPC). Commitment to the mission of a comprehensive two‑year college and its role in community development. Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. American Culinary Federation (ACF) certified as a Certified Chef de Cuisine (CCC) or higher. ServSafe certified. Benefits
