Press Brake Operator

1st Shift: 7am - 4pm Monday - Friday Pay Rate: $18-20 (depending on experience) The Press Brake Operator is responsible for setting up and operating press brake machines to perform precision bending and forming of metal sheets and plates. This role requires a strong understanding of blueprints and specifications, as well as expertise in machine operation, safety protocols, and quality control. Key Responsibilities: Machine Operation: Set up and operate press brake machines, including adjusting machine settings and tools based on job specifications. Load metal sheets or plates onto the machine and align them according to the required bend angles and dimensions. Perform test bends to ensure accuracy before starting production runs. Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine the correct bending specifications and sequence. Make necessary adjustments to the machine to achieve desired angles, lengths, and shapes. Quality Control: Inspect and measure finished parts using gauges, calipers, and micrometers to ensure they meet quality standards and tolerances. Perform routine checks and maintenance on the press brake machine to maintain optimal performance and accuracy. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Conduct regular maintenance on the press brake machine, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during operation, such as malfunctions or material defects. Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Adhere to company policies and regulatory standards related to machine operation and material handling. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including production quantities, machine settings, and any issues encountered. Report any defects, machine malfunctions, or production delays to the supervisor or maintenance team. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or training in machine operation is preferred. Proven experience operating press brake machines or similar manufacturing equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with precision measuring tools. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and maneuver heavy metal sheets or plates. Prolonged standing, bending, and reaching are required. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are essential. Work Environment: The role is typically performed in a manufacturing or production setting with exposure to noise, dust, and metal shavings. Protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection is required.
