Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist

The Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the Nuclear Medicine department, performing a full range of nuclear medicine procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role provides leadership, technical guidance, and training for technologists, while also delivering high-quality patient care and managing quality control, inventory, and accreditation processes. Essential functions include: Preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals and other medications for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures Performing, processing, and evaluating nuclear imaging studies; ensuring quality and accuracy of results Overseeing quality control procedures, regulatory compliance, and safety standards Coordinating and maintaining department schedule, coverage, and workflow for Nuclear Medicine staff Preparing and managing radioactive materials inventory, calibrations, and documentation per NRC, ACR, and USP guidelines Assisting the Radiation Safety Officer in monitoring radiation exposure and safety compliance Leading equipment maintenance assessments and collaborating on capital planning Participating in Radiation Safety Committee meetings and supporting accreditation readiness Providing training and ongoing education for staff on procedures, safety, and protocols Collaborating with radiologists and referring physicians to optimize protocols and imaging quality Ensuring accurate documentation and procedural coding; collaborating with Chargemaster as needed Knowledge/skills/abilities/expectations include: Proficient in all nuclear medicine procedures and imaging modalities Strong understanding of radiation safety, isotope handling, and regulatory compliance Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to analyze image quality, troubleshoot equipment, and train technologists Skilled in maintaining documentation for inspections, accreditation, and inventory Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 75 lbs) Repetitive motion, reaching, and patient transfers required Exposure to ionizing radiation and hazardous chemicals Hospital imaging and procedural areas Exposure to radioactive materials, infectious diseases, and stressful situations Qualifications include: High School Diploma or equivalent (Required) Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Program (Required) Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine (Required) BLS certification (Required) Minimum 5 years of clinical nuclear medicine experience (Required) Prior supervisory or lead experience (Preferred)
