Job Overview FAR Inspections, based in Reno, NV, is seeking highly motivated independent contractors to conduct residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; strong time‑management and deadline‑meeting abilities are essential. This is a 1099 position with a flexible schedule, offering predictable full‑time or supplemental income.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. As an inspector, you will verify property occupancy, report on general condition, and capture photos using a mobile application.
Responsibilities
Perform exterior only inspections (approx. 5–6 minutes each).
Complete inspections within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the mobile app.
Drive extensively within your county, making multiple stops during the day.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage preferred). You will pay for your own gas.
Smartphone (Android or iPhone) for the mobile application.
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You can earn the equivalent of
$30–$40 per hour , completing 20–500 inspections per month and working 2–30 hours per week, depending on county density.
No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
