Salary: Starting at $16 / hour
Job Summary The Recreation Activities Specialist develops and organizes Therapeutic Recreation programming for assigned residences. Creates and implements developmental and age-appropriate recreation activities. Coordinates with clients as well as staff in creating a therapeutic outing schedule on a monthly basis.
Responsibilities
Plans and coordinates daily and monthly recreational programs for assigned residences.
Communicates with management and team of each residence to create a schedule with purposeful fulfilling leisure activities.
Plans and implements on-campus entertainment, workshops, events, etc..
Coordinates and leads specified off‑campus recreational events and community outings.
Assists assigned residences with purchasing and maintaining an inventory of appropriate recreational equipment.
Plans special holiday events, parties, and socials with the assistance of co‑workers.
Assists in the organization and leading of specified groups, teams, and clubs.
(i.e., Special Olympic Events, Aerobics, Clubs, etc.)
Implements specific special projects as assigned.
Completes and maintains all required documentation regarding recreational activities and residents’ involvement.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
A minimum of one-year experience with the developmentally disabled is preferred.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Driver’s license required.
Must be 18 years of age.
