Recovery Navigator
SCHEDULE 2nd Shift Sun - Sat and as needed
SALARY D.O.E.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Meeting personally in emergency rooms with patients who have recently overdosed
Referring patients to treatment and recovery support services based on their interest
Increasing access to treatment and recovery support programs for individuals in Emergency Rooms who present with substance use related issues
Building and maintaining relationships with employees and leadership teams at designated hospitals (May include other local healthcare facilities including health departments and clinics)
Building and enhancing community-based resources including relationships with faith-based organizations in partnership with current Project Lifeline
When able, coordinating with community partners to increase the availability of evidence-based recovery programs such as, but not limited to, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA)
Attending required trainings and organization meetings
Submitting all required data components through state of Tennessee reporting platform
Ensuring compliance with all HIPAA regulations according to policy and procedure
DUTIES WHEN NOT AT ER/EDs
Pre‑screen perspective patients for appropriateness to enter treatment, completing pre‑admission screening form.
Completes all assessment forms and releases necessary in the admission process, including contacting the referral source, verifying the individual's admission to treatment.
Assist with recovery groups and documents accordingly i.e., admissions, treatment plans, assessments, ASAMs, progress notes, etc.
Skilled in crisis intervention.
Is knowledgeable of and adheres to the State and Federal mandates with regard to confidentiality.
Adheres to TN Counselor Code of Ethics and Buffalo Valley policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Peer Recovery Specialist Certificate required and must maintain certification in accordance with state standards or eligible to immediately train to receive their CPRS within 2 months, required
A minimum of two years' continuous sobriety and active participation in a 12‑Step program (if in recovery); ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals and respond to inquiries and issues with tact and good judgment; writing ability to maintain accurate records; verbal communication skills to make effective presentations and lead groups; ability to interface with persons inside and outside the agency and promote a positive image for Buffalo Valley, Inc.
Must attend mandatory training sessions and/or meetings as defined, required
Pass Background Check and Drug Screen required
Must have strong computer skills with ability to type 30 wpm
Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills and strong organizational skills with paperwork
Keeps a current CPR and First Aid certifications, required
Valid TN D.L. with "F" endorsement required; can be obtained once hired
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from 4‑year college or university, LADAC, or A&D Certification, preferred but not required
One‑year minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; if in recovery, must be in recovery from substance abuse for a period of no less than 2 years
High School Diploma or GED
