Department Intake Specialist

FT/PT Status Full Time

Pay Range($) 17.50-18.46

Job Responsibilities:

Performs intake procedures to determine client eligibility for agency programs including but not limited to rent assistance, fuel assistance, weatherization, and make recommendations regarding clients' program eligibility.

Refers clients to appropriate Community Action programs and Community Resources.

Disseminates standards for documentation required to establish eligibility for programs.

Maintains accurate, updated records and files.

Performs intake file input into the DBA software system.

Performs intake for various grants. Must have extensive knowledge of various grants and be able to understand and follow grant guidelines.

Performs clerical duties including processing information by computer, filing, answering Agency telephone, utilizing agency software, scheduling appointments.

Provides Energy Education information to clients.

Responsible for processing MICROIX for emergency services files in all four counties.

May work in multiple locations and various office settings.

Reviews daily and weekly the intake schedule to determine if there is proper coverage or anything needs to be adjusted.

Responsible for the Walk for Warmth event in cooperation with the Marketing Communication Specialist.

Complies with agency’s values, mission and culture statements.

Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit, to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand, bend, and walk. Must be able to occasionally lift and or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications & Education: Education:

This position requires a High School Diploma or G.E.D. In addition, this position requires knowledge such as that acquired in the first one or two years of college, technical, vocational, or business school.

Experience:

Between one and three years of progressively more responsible or expansive experience is required.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationship with the public and departmental supervisors and staff. Organizational and intermediate/advanced level computer skills with experience in the Agency’s software programs.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Pass a criminal background check and National Sex Offender Registry check.

Valid driver’s license with driving record in compliance with Community Action insurance carrier requirements.

Establish and maintain a positive, effective working relationship with staff and clients of varying educational and cultural backgrounds.

Work with staff to resolve conflict in an appropriate “problem solving” manner beneficial to all concerned and the agency as a whole.

Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

Maintain consistent and regular attendance and punctuality based on designated work schedule.
