During their careers, special agents carry out assignments in investigations and protection, potentially at multiple duty stations across the U.S. and abroad. Responsibilities include: Providing protection for various protectees. Conducting criminal investigations related to financial obligations of the United States. Planning and implementing security designs for National Special Security Events. This is a unique career, and our special agents are exceptional individuals. U.S. citizenship Valid driver's license Ability to carry and use a firearm; firearm proficiency is mandatory Be at least 21 years old at application and less than 37 at conditional employment offer, unless prior federal law enforcement service applies. Veterans' preference applicants must receive a conditional offer before age 40. Obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance Uncorrected visual acuity no worse than 20/100 binocular; corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in either ear in specified ranges Pass drug testing before appointment and random testing thereafter Complete 13 weeks of training at FLETC in Glynco, GA, and 18 weeks at James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD Willingness to accept assignments nationwide and overseas Register with the Selective Service System or be exempt (if male and born after December 31, 1959) Additional Information
