During their careers, special agents carry out assignments in investigations and protection, potentially at multiple duty stations across the U.S. and abroad. Responsibilities include: Providing protection for various protectees. Conducting criminal investigations related to financial obligations of the United States. Planning and implementing security for National Special Security Events. Our special agents are exceptional individuals. U.S. citizenship required. Valid driver's license required. Must carry and use a firearm; firearm proficiency is mandatory. Be at least 21 years old at application and less than 37 at conditional job offer, unless prior federal law enforcement service qualifies for special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions. Veterans' preference applicants must receive a conditional offer before age 40. Obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance. Uncorrected visual acuity no worse than 20/100 binocular; corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better. Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in either ear in specified frequency ranges. Pass a drug test prior to appointment and undergo random testing during employment. Complete 13 weeks of training at FLETC in Glynco, GA, and 18 weeks at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD. Willingness to accept assignments anywhere within the U.S. and overseas. Register with the Selective Service System or be exempt (if male and born after December 31, 1959). Additional Details
