FAR Inspections, a Reno, NV‑based company with over 9 years of experience, is looking to hire independent contractors to perform residential occupancy verifications for mortgage lenders. Contractors enjoy a flexible schedule, predictable full‑time or supplemental income, and zero prior inspection experience required.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders send independent contractors to verify property occupancy and report on general property conditions via a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections in your assigned county, working alone or paired with another inspector if volume allows.
Most inspections take 5‑6 minutes.
Submit completed inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the inspection app.
Drive extended periods on the road, making numerous stops within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus, as gas is paid for by the contractor).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Contractors often earn between 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week, with the potential for $30–$40 per hour. There is no set minimum; higher volume counties offer lower rates, while lower volume counties offer higher rates. No mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
