Overview

WORKING TOGETHER... FOR A SAFE COMMUNITY! As a Police Recruit, you will: Attend a minimum of a twenty-week training program under the supervision of instructors in a police academy approved by AZ POST to acquire the minimum skills necessary to perform in Police Officer classification. Read and study instructional or informational material in order to achieve elementary working knowledge. Prepare for and take written physical tests to prove knowledge and skill levels. Receive field training from a certified Field Training Officer (FTO), utilizing and applying knowledge from classroom work; receive evaluations from FTO to track progress. Obtain certification upon meeting AZ POST established minimum standards and passing required examinations (or waiver examinations) within a six-month period. Is skilled in: Analytical, objective observance of situations and quick decision-making. Managing situations firmly, courteously, tactfully, and impartially. Recording information accurately and completely. Has the ability to: Serve our community with courtesy and respect. Pass written and physical agility examinations. Pass oral board interview. Pass extensive background investigation. Pass polygraph examination and drug test. Successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation including credit check, polygraph and psychological examination and meet the minimum POST standards for medical examination and physical ability. REQUIRED:

all requirements must be maintained throughout employment. Residency in the United States and within 25 miles of the City of San Luis. A valid Arizona Driver’s License at the time of appointment. Must meet Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AZ POST) and City of San Luis standards for appointment as a police officer. Must be at least 21 years of age by the time of graduation from the Police Academy. Education, Training, and Experience: A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Candidates deemed to have the most relevant backgrounds will be invited to participate in the interview/assessment process. Current employees may be given preferred consideration if they meet the position's minimum requirements. Hiring Process: Physical Ability Test (POPAT):

Candidates must complete a series for obstacle courses.
