In collaboration with each campus and other university-wide teams, the Marketing and Communications team for Student Success and Enrollment helps advance Indiana University's (IU) mission through bold, data-driven marketing that champions the student journey and strengthens every IU campus. Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities Leads the creation and editorial direction of high-impact student-facing content across the enrollment and student success lifecycle, ensuring clarity, consistency, and brand alignment. Translates complex university processes and policies into accessible, student-centered messaging for multi-channel distribution (email, web, print, SMS, video, and social). Serves as the lead editor for major Vice President for Student Success, Enrollment and Institutional Effectiveness (VPSSEIE) initiatives, maintaining editorial standards, inclusive language, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant writing practices. Collaborates with strategists, designers, and customer relationship management (CRM) partners to develop narrative-driven communication journeys and manage high-volume, multi-stakeholder content workflows. Uses analytics, feedback, and audits to continuously improve message quality, accuracy, and student engagement. General Responsibilities

Writes and edits clear, informative written content for various communications needs, audiences, and publication formats, assessing for relevance, accuracy, and appropriateness; tailors the degree of copyediting to a project's specific needs. Independently corrects basic and complex grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and syntax errors and performs edits that improve overall writing quality of communications and ensure alignment with university mission, strategies, objectives, and brand and accessibility guidelines. Performs reviews of peer writing to ensure grammar, quality, tone, and level of depth are sufficient; may also review against requirements for specific publications, including content, length, brand guidelines, and deadline specifications. Regularly consults with writers, printers, faculty, staff, and/or other stakeholders to ensure adherence to writing and publications deadlines. Identifies user and audience needs, analyzes usage of existing content in order to identify content gaps, and identifies the appropriate delivery platform; plans, develops, and publishes internal and external communications. Develops editorial calendars and localized guidelines; may ensure others adhere to deadlines and guidelines. Drafts sample communications to be reviewed with manager and/or peers at project deadline checkpoints. May provide guidance to other Writing/Editing Specialists. Qualifications

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary

$70,000 - $75,000 annually, based on skills and experience.
