Commercial Lines Account Manager — St. Louis or Kansas City, MO (Other Locations Considered)
Position: Commercial Lines Account Manager
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer, Commercial Manager
Essential Functions Assists Producers in procuring new business and handles sales and servicing of assigned POWERS commercial lines clients and prospects in an accurate and timely manner to exceed client expectations.
Position Summary Requires committed, energetic and empathetic listener with excellent communication skills, a commitment to serve others, ability to multi-task, problem-solve and who has a desire to achieve and continually learn. Individual must be detail oriented, accurate, organized and efficient.
Business Development
Coordinates renewals/lead generation/marketing plans with Producer.
Handles new business submissions and provides rates and quotes to Producer.
Provides rates and quotes on renewal coverages/policies as requested, selling new or expansion opportunities when appropriate.
Coordinates with Producer to solicit additional coverage from existing clients at time of renewal.
Keeps informed of industry developments through review of trade press and by attending company training meetings on new coverages and products.
New Business
Prepares documents for new accounts as they are assigned.
Receives and assesses quotations from companies.
Prepares proposals and reviews with Producer in a timely manner.
Assists Producer with presentation of proposals as requested.
Checks new policies and prepares for delivery to client within 2 weeks of receipt.
Renewal Business
Conducts ongoing risk management reviews of commercial lines accounts to identify inadequate coverages or limits and discusses findings with Producer.
Prints applications 90 days prior to policy’s expiration date for Producer/Insured review.
Prepares surveys as needed for renewal business.
Reviews quotes, prepares proposals and discusses with Producer in a timely manner.
Maintains controls on renewal expirations and binders on an ongoing basis.
Handles policy and claim processing situations with client and/or company personnel as needed, including the ordering and checking of endorsements, cancellations, audits, reporting forms, etc., and delegating when appropriate.
Handles requests for certificates, delegating when appropriate.
Maintains direct communication with producers, company underwriters and insureds in servicing assigned accounts.
Office Efficiency
Agency objective is to be highly profitable.
Utilizes and strives to improve the agency management systems, its related workflow and interface advances.
Utilizes, organizes and maintains client, prospect and carrier records, account folders and computer files in accordance with established procedures.
Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
5 years experience in the insurance industry.
Must be a good communicator with strong verbal skills.
Competent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and the ability to master the agency management system is highly desirable.
Detailed, accurate, and a creative thinker.
Self-directed, organized and efficient, able to work with many managers.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision to achieve expected results.
College preferred.
Property & Casualty Producer License.
