Position Description
Senior Level Diesel Technician – Permanent Full Time – Truck Fleet Support at Ryder in North Charleston, South Carolina.
Compensation & Bonuses
Hourly Pay: $32.00 per hour
Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter – Four times per year
Sign On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
Schedule: Monday through Friday – Second Shift 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or Technical Certification or post‑secondary degree preferred
Basic tools required
At least 3 years of relevant work experience (minimum 2 years in mechanical repair on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment)
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred; required to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
Ability to drive Ryder vehicles; must pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, background check, and motor‑vehicle verification
Basic diagnostics and repair of diesel engines, AC, and electrical systems
Computer skills – PC, Windows, mouse
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair – standard, preventive, and complex tasks
Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer systems
Replace defective components and conduct detailed inspections
Work independently and mentor lower‑level technicians
Maintain facility cleanliness and safety compliance (DOT, MOS)
Use shop management system and document work per corporate guidelines
Complete required training – SBTIII, OEM diagnostic courses
