Diesel Mechanic

Hours/Shift: 4-10 hour shifts 11am-9:30pm TUE, WED, THUR 4am-2:30pm SAT OFF: MON, FRI, SUN
Position Summary To serve our internal customers by maintaining and repairing the company’s fleet of vehicles according to established company standards and federal law to ensure the safety, reliability, and functionality of the fleet.
Essential Functions
Performs preventative maintenance repairs which include replacing and rotating tires, completing vehicle component lubrication and replacement, minor electrical and cooling system repairs to gas and diesel engine vehicles.
Performs preventative maintenance on trailers and Warehouse equipment such as Walkie Riders, Forklifts, Pallet Jacks and Powered hand carts.
Adheres to all company policies, standards and procedures (e.g. OSHA and safety requirements, AIB and Pepsi standards, FMCSA, Federal/State/Local Laws); wears all required personal protective equipment.
Complies with all safety and DOT regulations.
Communicates with co-workers regarding repair status on equipment; internal customers regarding vehicle repair needs; supervisor regarding vehicle repair issues.
Transports equipment to outside maintenance shops for repair work not completed in-house.
Orders parts and maintains parts inventory.
Maintains cleanliness and assists in the organization of the fleet garage (e.g. cleans up spills, properly disposes of used parts).
Completes Federal annual inspection reports, preventative maintenance records, service repair order forms, time-off requests and other required paperwork according to established standards.
Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as needed to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required.
Education Level
Minimum: High School or GED
Preferred: Vocational / Technical or equivalent degree; 2 Year / associate degree in diesel mechanics
Experience
Years of Experience – 1 year with medium to heavy duty trucks required
Certificates & Licenses
Valid Driver's License; employee must be insurable to operate a vehicle, as a condition of initial and continued employment.
Additional Requirements Basic understanding of diagnostic software. Must be able to work around fumes, airborne particles, and toxic/caustic materials. Must be able to work around moving equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks) and in a loud noise environment.
