Utility Services Field Technician – Key Responsibilities – Utility Services Field Technician
Conduct subsurface utility exploration using test-hole drilling methods
Work in crews to detect presence of lead pipes underground safely and accurately
Interpret utility plans and drawings to inform drilling locations
Document findings and communicate with project leads for follow-up or escalation
Utility Services Field Technician – Requirements – Utility Services Field Technician Qualifications
Experience in field drilling or utility locating (construction, municipal, environmental)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, or utility maps
Strong attention to safety, especially around potential hazardous materials (e.g. lead)
Reliable transportation to Sterling, VA, and ability to work on varied terrain
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in subsurface utility engineering (SUE), vacuum excavation, or environmental sampling
Prior OSHA or safety training certificationsFamiliarity with handheld locating equipment or GIS tools
