About the Opportunity The Metal Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components and structures according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions. This role involves cutting, shaping, forming, riveting, and straightening sheet metal or structural components using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication machinery. The ideal candidate demonstrates precision craftsmanship, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Location Stuart, Florida – Onsite. 1st shift (AWW) Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Responsibilities
Follow written work instructions to assemble aircraft structures or components. With or without the aid of fixtures may require forming, drilling, filing, reaming, countersinking, burring and fastening using various hand tools as well as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
Work with engineering to improve manufacturing processes.
Responsible for setup and running of Forming Press Brake operations via Amada Press.
Assemble, install, rework, repair and modify aircraft structural, mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, components. Requires following written manufacturing planning, blueprints, process specifications, repair and rework sketches, and following written and/or oral instructions.
Ensure all assemblies and detail parts are free of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and nonconformance issues. Check units for compliance using handheld precision measuring equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, height gages and scales.
Learn and gain a better understanding of calibrated tooling and equipment such as but not limited to vernier calipers, height gages, pi-tapes, plug gages, micrometers, go/no go gages, thread gages, cylindrical plug and vertical dividing head.
Become proficient in interpreting blueprints to determine how and where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products.
Become proficient in measuring, marking dimensions, and lay out material to be installed using tools such as scribes, rulers, calculators and squares.
Become proficient in fastening joints and seams in sheet metal with solder, welds, caulk, bolts and metal driver clips, ensuring work is done carefully and bonds will last.
Assist in checking parts using specified gages or check parts using furnished fixtures to see that dimensions are being maintained.
Consistently maintain specific tolerances and accurately perform dimensions.
Follow all applicable safety rules and precautions.
Other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
1-3 years of related experience
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or technical certification in Metal Fabrication, Welding, or Precision Manufacturing
Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, process sheets, and engineering drawings
Experience using precision measuring equipment instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators).
Familiarity with Fabrication tools and machinery such as press breaks, rollers, shears, grinders, and rivet guns.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to identify and correct fabrication issues
Demonstrated ability to work with tight tolerances and maintain high quality standards
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with engineers, inspectors, and supervisors.
Working Conditions
Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds; sometimes up to 50 pounds
Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
