Sheet Metal Fabricator I
Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Sheet Metal Fabricators are responsible for the setup, operation and adjustment of various fabrication machines such as saws, shears, punch presses, press brakes, and grinders, to shape and alter sheet metal according to customer specifications.
Essential Functions
Operate saws, shears, CNC sheet metal fabrication machinery (CNC turret punch, router, press brakes, lasers) to cut, shear, punch, bend, or straighten sheet metal or other parts and material.
Perform setups or adjustments according to program directives, using shims, blocks, supports, and fixtures to ensure proper alignment of parts.
Determine project requirements (materials, cutting lines, dimensions, tolerances) using blueprints, drawings, work orders or written/verbal instructions.
Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on material using calculators, dividers, squares, or rulers.
Measure and inspect completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates or rulers.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow directions consistently and accept responsibility for actions and work product.
Comply with applicable manufacturing processes, work procedures, and supervisor instructions.
Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures; proactively identify job hazards and collaborate with leadership to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Regular attendance on‑site at the workplace is required.
Required Education and Work Experience
High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
A minimum of one (1) year experience in a production/manufacturing role requiring the use of hand tools and material‑handling equipment is preferred; recent vocational training in a metal‑working or other technical role may be considered in lieu of work experience.
Required Skills and Abilities
Experience reading and accurately interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, work orders and customer specifications.
Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers.
Experience using powered electric and/or pneumatic hand tools including grinders or sanders is preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility; stand for long periods to perform job duties.
Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50‑75 pounds using peer assistance and/or lifting equipment.
Occasionally reach overhead or out/down to perform duties.
Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel.
Frequently use hand or fingers to manually inspect parts and operate tools and/or material handling controls.
Visual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devices.
Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to excessive noise (hearing protection required), dust, smoke, mist, fumes/vapors (regularly), extreme temperatures (occasionally), and hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other.
