Overview
We are seeking a full-time Social Media Strategist 2 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and executing effective strategies to help build and develop Garmin’s presence on social media while working closely with the Global Social Media Director and creative leadership to define objectives, develop content plans, and drive engagement on Garmin owned social media channels.
Essential Functions
Develop/maintain a weekly content calendar for assigned segment that is distributed globally and published via Sprinkler which includes directing/creating content
Create/execute social media strategies for Garmin’s global marketing campaigns for your assigned segment in collaboration with the creative department
Work collaboratively across social media/creative teams as the subject matter expert for platforms and high-performing content
Create/distribute regular reporting on the channels/campaigns assigned
Lead/capture social-media content for assigned segment
Manage relationships across Marketing teams for assigned segment to help foster a unified Garmin experience on organic, paid, PR and event marketing
Direct social media/creative teams with creation of always-on social media content
Travel for production or event coverage to help create content for distribution on social channels when applicable
Provide guidance/direction to Garmin’s roster of ambassadors/influencers for specific segment
Attend ongoing segment status meetings, report on social media performance, and provide updates on social media projects
Work with country social teams supporting Garmin globally to develop ideas that help sustain and grow our brand
Maintain awareness of Garmin productions and provide constructive, professional input when necessary
Work with social media and social care team to ensure prompt service for consumer inquiries
Engage with followers for surprise and delight opportunities, or new ambassador/partner opportunities
Seek ongoing User-Generated Content for sharing on Garmin channels
Coordinate giveaways, contests, or promotions with partner companies in coordination with segment leads
Provide best practices/recommendations to segment leadership that position Garmin as best in class
Continue to learn/engage with segment around new products, trends, and general segment knowledge and follow key events for the segment and be up to speed with any relevant news
Work collaboratively and communicate professionally with other Garmin associates to achieve departmental and company objectives/goals
Demonstrate a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or related degree
AND
a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience
Experience in digital or social media at an agency or corporate setting
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and must demonstrate effective presentation skills
Demonstrates proficient knowledge of online/social media platforms
Must be detail-oriented and can prioritize and work proactively with minimal supervision to achieve deadlines
Demonstrated account leadership abilities with previous digital or social media clients
Demonstrates interest and passion for running, cycling, multisport, avionics, automotive or consumer electronics
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated enthusiasm for the activities that make up Garmin’s audience on social media – Running, Hiking, Fitness, Cycling, etc. (looking for someone who can demonstrate firsthand knowledge of the category and lifestyle and communicate authentically with the audience)
