Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only, with about 10% requiring interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
Finish each inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the mobile app.
Spend extended periods driving in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you pay for your own gas)
Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
Printer
Valid driver’s license and pass a standard background check
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary by county and volume. You can earn the equivalent of
$30‑$40 per hour .
Depending on the county (urban or rural), you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates, and higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month.
No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
